During the last four months, the Town has undertaken various improvements related to the sewer installations in the Rockland Park area. During the course of these improvements, a landfill dike was constructed across the inlet that runs from the Sound to our property line.
My primary concern is that the dike has created a large area of trapped brackish water and mud between the dike and our property. The resulting stagnant pools are a nuisance that is both unsightly and unhealthy. Sewage drainage from several businesses is now trapped. This problem will continue until the final extension of the sewer line. Inquiries at your office last week indicate that this project may not be funded for some years.
We request, then, that the area between the dike and our property be filled to a sufficient height to eliminate the water/swamp problem. The attached map indicates the area of concern.
